CESAR to Showcase Segway Partnership at Cereals Exhibition on June 11-12

We are excited to announce that CESAR will attend the Cereals exhibition in Newnham, Hertfordshire, from June 11 to 12. As the premier event for the agricultural industry, Cereals is the perfect platform for us to showcase our latest advancements in security technology for agricultural machinery.

The past year has seen a significant increase in rural crime, with a sharp 40% rise in the cost of such incidents in the first quarter alone. Quad and ATV thefts have been particularly concerning, totaling £2.2 million over the previous year. The combined effects of shipping delays, Covid, and Brexit have exacerbated the situation, increasing demand for new and second-hand farm and forest machinery. As waiting lists grow and market values soar, quads and ATVs have become prime targets for thieves, who see them as high-value, easily portable items with a lucrative resale market domestically and internationally.

In response to the growing threat, the UK has enacted the Equipment Theft (Prevention) Act 2023, which became law this year. This legislation is crucial in tackling agricultural and commercial equipment theft and resale. The Act mandates that equipment, especially those used in agriculture, must be fitted with anti-theft devices and unique identifiers. It also requires sellers to maintain detailed sales records. Effective January 20, 2024, the Act aims to make the resale of stolen goods more difficult, offering better protection for various industries against theft.
