Highlighting Emissions Compliance Verification for sites and 'Clean Air Zones' with Mayor of the West Midlands, Andy Street and Dave Luscombe of the Construction Equipment Association & Datatag ID Ltd
This is the third of six video interviews with Peter Haddock, supported by Sunbelt Rentals UK, from the opening of the new City of Wolverhampton College 'Rail Training Centre' this week.
For this interview, Andy Street retrofitted the ECV sticker to a JCB telehandler provided by Sunbelt Rentals. And Peter spoke to Dave Luscombe about the importance of the ECV scheme and how it's connected to the CESAR Scheme.
Dave: "It was great to see Andy Street, the Mayor of the West Midlands and the West Midlands Combined Authority, using this launch event also to highlight the importance of reducing emissions."
"ECV is a highly visual way of identifying emissions standards for machines working on a job site. With the Birmingham 'Clean Air Zone' already in place, it's important that the plant used on major projects also keeps the air clean."
Having visited an inner-city site with Sunbelt Rentals, Peter was pleased to see a JCB all-electric telehandler in action (clip in this video) and talk to the operator on site. With its recent record-breaking £65m deal with JCB for over 2000 machines, it's also brilliant to hear that over 90% will be either all-electric or meet the new Stage V emissions standards.
We need leaders like Andy Street to highlight the importance of low emissions in the construction sector, so it was also great to see him having the chance to retrofit an ECV sticker. Of course, this was an older machine, which is equally important to identify, as all of the new machines Sunbelt Rentals owns are already fitted with both CESAR and ECV stickers.
You can find out more about the ECV Scheme at the link below: https://www.cesarscheme.org/ecv.php
Also well done to all of those businesses that are part of or supporting the new 'Rail Training Centre', that will bring new jobs and skills for projects like HS2 (High Speed Two) Ltd .
They include Amey's AMEY RAIL LIMITED division, National Infrastructure Solutions (NIS), Rhomberg Sersa Rail Group, ISS Labour Ltd, Safeaid Ltd, Hilti Group STRABAG, PORR Group and of course Sunbelt Rentals UK.
