CESAR SUPPORTS UK POLICE FORCES AT PLANTWORX

Police officers from across the UK attended a special training event on the opening morning of the biannual Plantworx Exhibition recently. The show, at its new venue of the East of England Showground, Peterborough, Has a huge product showcase and an exciting mix of live demonstrations and working machinery and saw visitors from across the spectrum of the construction industry brave the weather to see all that’s new in plant.

As well as the industry police officers also attended the show – specifically for the dedicated CESAR Scheme training workshop, hosted by security technology provider Datatag. Here they learnt more about the issues and trends in plant theft, the Official CESAR Scheme itself and the latest developments in its functionality. At a time of hard pressed police resources this type of training, offered free of charge by the CEA and Datatag, is invaluable in supporting officers on the coal face in tackling crime.

Kevin Howells, CEO at Datatag said, ‘With officers from all of the most affected force areas attending this event it was a great success in sharing current trends and best practices. We will continue to host these events to support the Police in tackling plant theft.’

The official CESAR protects over 320,000 items of construction and agricultural equipment using a combination of Datatag security technologies including the now iconic triangular CESAR ID tamper evident labels. The schemes biggest advantage is its ability to be used at the roadside to confirm the identity of a machine thereby saving the police from lengthy laboratory tests.

Its layered approach to security marking has resulted in a dramatic decrease in plant theft since CESAR was launched in 2007 and is the main reason why almost all major brands now fit the system as standard.
